Latest Reports :
21 May
2009 : MOE tightens control on sex education
delivered by external agencies, excerpts : Education Minister Ng
Eng Hen said: "Our teachers are trained up to a
level in terms of being able to deliver the
sexuality education programme. They are
teachers, they are not specially trained
professionals for this task. So we have the help
of counsellors, allied educators as well as
these external agencies."
Two weeks ago, the programmes run by these
agencies were suspended, following complaints
that the teaching materials in the programme run
by the Association of Women for Action and
Research (AWARE) were inappropriate. For
example, homosexuality is seen as neutral in
AWARE's instructor guide.
MOE said it will not be able to use AWARE to run
sexuality education programme in schools until
it has gained the public's trust for its
sexuality programmes.
21 May
2009 : MOE's
decision to drop AWARE as external vendor
regrettable: AWARE President, excerpts
SINGAPORE: AWARE said it is
regrettable that the Education Ministry has
decided to drop it as a sexuality education
provider.
While it understands the ministry's decision as
it has been under considerable pressure from
some parents on the matter, AWARE said it still
believes that its comprehensive sexuality
education programme is a much needed resource
for youth.

What's next, AWARE? How to keep the 3,000 members and...How
are classes conducted for Sexual Education?
For those
who believe the 2007 program on Comprehensive Sexual
Education are the right kind of teaching...perhaps they
would be willing to discuss the controversial 'contents' and
discuss them with their children, grandchildren, nephews,
nieces, their mothers, fathers, uncles, aunties, etc.
Then, this will be a reflection of the truth they do agree!
Of course, the 'controversial contents referred
here are specific to :
1.
ANAL SEX :
Can
be healthy or neutral if practiced with
consent and with a condom
2.
VIRGINITY :
A
concept which is really difficult to
fix, traditionally virginity is related
to the hymen. But perhaps we can also
think of virginity as a state of mind?
3.
PRE-MARITAL SEX :
People might place pre-martial sex as
negative, but it is really neutral. The
key is where the couple is aware of the
consequences and responsibilities and is
ready for them.
Comprehensive Sexual Education?EXPOSED!
For 2 years parents didn't know...unravelled
over 7 days! Parents are OUTRAGED!
Oh yes, those
schools which allowed the Comprehensive Sexual
Education to be taught, their principals should
be willing to openly share the teaching about
points 1 - 3 in their school assembly to all the
students and teachers alike, since this is
deemed to have been 'endorsed' for some of their
students in those selected to attend.
Thanks to
everyone who has contributed to shedding light
into the darkness.
Singapore will come to appreciate for many
generations to come.
